FOUND IN THE GROUND Riverside Studios, W6 "URINATING nurses; mechanical dogs; fornicating, headless women; burning books and Adolf Hitler" reads the list on the publicity material. Yes, this can only mean one thing: Howard Barker is back in town and it's time to run for cover.
Barker has long been referred to as the "enfant terrible" of British theatre, and his latest offering reassures us that at least one of these words still holds true. As is customary, the work, written by Barker, is directed by him, too, and performed by the Wrestling School, the company dedicated to the absurdly heightened tragic style that comprises the oeuvre of, yes, Howard Barker.
