PAUL McGINLEY has left a gaping hole in Nick Faldo's Ryder Cup plans by resigning as one of his vice-captains for next year's team.

McGinley claims he wants to concentrate on his game but privately, the 40-year-old Irishman is reported to be angry after Faldo left him out of the Britain and Ireland line-up for the Seve Trophy, which began today at The Heritage west of Dublin.
