Summary
CAMERON made a slip while playing the role of statesman about the sailors held by Iran. His first questions were supportive of the Government. Then he asked if the troops had "clear rules of engagement".
Tory faces fell as they realised Cameron sounded as if he thought the sailors should have defended themselves. Blair slapped down that idea. The Tory leader clawed back a point with a jibe about the PM "in a desperate search for the Environment Secretary's backbone". He also savaged the Budget adroitly.
