Summary
The Invincible Quest: The Life of Richard Milhous Nixon by Conrad Black CONRAD Black is a remarkable man. While awaiting what his publishers label "adjudication in a corporate governance controversy" but Chicago's prosecutors entitle a fraud and racketeering trial, he wrote a 1,152- page biography of Richard Nixon.
"You'll be aware," he explained in a recent newspaper interview, "of these stories that I was living in Toronto as some kind of Howard Hughes, my hair to my navel. So I thought this could be my way of demonstrating to my tormentors that they hadn't even prevented me from writing a book." Readers should not assume that Black's explanation was impromptu bravado. He applies exactly the same description to Nixon during the disgraced ex-president's dog days after Watergate. So the reader gets two stories for the price of one: Nixon's compelling saga and Black's self-portrayal as a similar victim of America's "venal zealots".See the full content of this document
