I AM writing to applaud the decision of the MidCentral Health Board to appoint a Maori chaplain at Palmerston North Hospital.

My own experience of the value of these chaplaincies in the support of both patients and family members has been tremendous. I remember with extreme gratitude the daily visits of the chaplain over a period of two years when my husband was a patient in the hospital, visits which restored my sanity.
