100 YEARS AGOJune 14, 1904 FOR years past, Palmerston has suffered from a rampant spirit of vandalism that has manifested itself in various ways. It would have been thought that the operations of the Beautifying Society and the Council to improve the appearance of the town would have been respected by the social pests, but it it not so and already the wire netting placed around the reserves in The Square yesterday has been damaged by persons climbing over the fences, instead of going around the reserves. The reserve, where operations are proceeding, has been closed for traffic and vigorous production will follow any destruction of public property in which offenders may be detected.
