IN THE battle of Sloane Square, it's Residents 3, Daniel Moylan 0. As I reported yesterday, Kensington & Chelsea's deputy leader first tried to drive roads through the historic square, then sought to move the listed Venus Fountain to another location and finally suggested snarling the traffic permanently by closing off access to Holbein Place. Local objectors, including Bryan Ferry and Rupert Everett last night saw off Moylan's third wizzo scheme just as they had disposed of the other two.
Holbein Place will be reopened to incoming traffic as soon as repaving is completed. The closure was always meant to be temporary - and K& C has repeatedly assured everybody it would be - until it was recently revealed that Moylan's department was looking favourably on making it permanent.See the full content of this document
