ANDREW Marr looked genuinely startled yesterday on his BBC1 show when the Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, suddenly produced a pair of scissors and cut up his dog collar as a protest against President Mugabe. Presumably, it also came as a shock to the BBC's security people who are supposed to prevent dangerous weapons being brought into their studios.
Conspiracy theorists may wonder whether it was another BBC put- up job, with Marr being in on the secret from the start. "I had no idea what he was going to do, as must have been evident from the expression on my face," Marr told me afterwards.
