Row of the week Ken Livingstone v Sir Robin Wales THE Mayor's bid to win greater powers for himself continues apace. First he questioned the dedication of the London Assembly, noting how many members had second jobs - despite their Pounds 49,265 salary. Then he attacked he capital's councillors, declaring that axing all 33 boroughs would "get rid of a lot of the garbage". But the boroughs hit back under the auspices of the Association of London Government, led by Newham mayor Sir Robin. It has rejected Ken's idea that its leaders replace the assembly as scrutineers of the Mayor, instead calling for extra powers for itself and the beleaguered assembly.
