Vardy chiefs back on road MANAGEMENT of former motor group Reg Vardy is back in business. Vertu, set up by Robert Forrester, managing director of Vardy before its takeover by Pendragon, has bought car dealer Bristol Street for Pounds 69 million. It has 35 outlets including sites in Orpington, Bromley and Bexleyheath. Profits last year were Pounds 5.1 million on sales of Pounds 576 million.The deal is Pounds 31 million in cash, Pounds 9 million in shares of Vertu and the rest to cover debt.
Pounds 43m buy puts Hays in Japan RECRUITER Hays is jumping into Japan, paying Pounds 43 million for James Harvard, a leading player in the pharma and biotech industries that places clinical trial professionals and data analysts. It plans to use Harvard's position in the Japanese market to roll out its own services there.
