Summary

Former Enron accounts chief begins 51/2-year prison term FORMER Enron executive Richard Causey, pictured, was last night reported to have started his jail sentence for his role in the collapse of the energy giant. Causey, its chief accounting officer, was jailed for five-and-a-half years in November. His wife declined to comment on his whereabouts but the Federal Bureau of Prisons described him as "in transit". Causey, 46, pleaded guilty in December 2005 to securities fraud just a fortnight before he was due to stand trial alongside Enron founder the late Kenneth Lay and former chief executive Jeffrey Skilling on conspiracy, fraud and other charges.

After his sentence, Causey will serve two years' probation and pay a $25,000 (Pounds 12,700) fine.
