Bankruptcy experts see 90% profits boost after expansion THE rise in schemes to avoid personal bankruptcy has seen a surge in business at insolvency firm Begbies Traynor. For the half-year to 31 October, the accountants, headed by Rick Traynor, pictured, reported profits of just over Pounds 1 million - 90% better than last year - on turnover of Pounds 14 million. The group, which has expanded by acquiring similar businesses offering debt-stricken people individual voluntary arrangements, said it expects further growth from a "cyclical upturn" in personal insolvencies, resulting from a hangover of the consumer credit boom.
e2bn deal makes Lactalis the biggest cheese in Europe PAN- EUROPEAN private-equity house BC Partners, run out of London, has turned a tidy profit on the sale of Galbani, Italy's biggest cheesemaker, to French dairy group Lactalis. The deal, estimated at e1.5 billione2 billion, comes just four years after BC bought Galbani from Danone for e1.01 billion in 2002.
