Females' genes can't keep quiet WOMEN are more complex than previously thought, geneticists have discovered. Scientists writing in Nature say the "silent" X-chromosome of the pair every woman carries is not always inactive after all. Dr Laura Carrel, from Pennsylvania, said: "The effects of these genes could explain some of the differences between men and women that aren't attributable to sex hormones."
