THANK you for publishing the CCTV image showing cyclist Lisa Pontecorvo seconds before she was run down by a cement lorry (Lorry drivers "need educating about cyclists", 19 September). It was truly distressing yet I hope it will add to our campaign to make both cyclists and lorry drivers aware of the danger that large vehicles can create for people in London.

It is possible that this death could have been avoided if the lorry had been fitted with a forward-facing mirror, as is required for all new lorries. Similar mirrors were introduced in Japan 32 years ago, with significant casualty reductions..
