Summary

Robert Rossen's searing, seething film of swaggering, self- destructive pool shark Fast Eddie Felson gave Paul Newman his finest role to date. Eddie can 'shoot stick' that leaves rivals breathless and broke, but his real ambition is to beat Minnesota Fats (Jackie Gleason), the greatest of them all. But as Eddie's life begins to unravel, he drags a young alcoholic girl, Sarah (Piper Laurie), down with him, with tragic results.
