AT A TIME when the old rituals are under such sustained threat that nine out of 10 Christmas cards apparently don't mention Christmas (I say apparently because I can't do this research myself; there are four cards on our mantelpiece, and two of those are from Indian takeaways), let's all get behind one tradition we can unashamedly relish.
