HOTELS in London are to be given "eco-ratings" to boost the city's green credentials before the Olympics.

Inspectors will rate establishments on everything from energy and water efficiency to whether food and drink is locally sourced. Staff will be quizzed on green issues and on local services such as cycle hire. Green Tourism for London will then issue gold, silver and bronze stars, which can be used in advertising.
