IN The Break Up, the hit Hollywood movie starring Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston, the crunch point for their strained relationship comes when Vaughn's slobby character buys a pool table. For him it's a harmless piece of fun, for her it is a boy's toy too far.

But at least Vaughn didn't decide to spend tens of thousands of pounds on creating a gadget-lover's paradise, with every hi-tech device you could possibly imagine - something that is becoming increasingly common in London.
