YOU CAN catch Paul Merton regularly doing improvisation at the Comedy Store, but last night's Hackney gala was clearly close to his heart. His second wife Sarah died of breast cancer last year and Merton and his crack adlibbers were staging this action-packed benefit for the Barts Cancer Centre for Excellence.
An added frisson was provided by the presence of Suki Webster, Merton's girlfriend.
