CARLOS MOYA, the 1998 French Open champion, took his place in this year's quarter-finals today with a straight-sets win over his close friend Jonas Bjorkman, writes Chris Jones.

Moya now looks certain to face fellow Spaniard and world No2 Rafael Nadal, who was two sets up against Australian Lleyton Hewitt as he continued his bid for a third successive triumph at Roland Garros.
