ANNE BANCROFT, the actress who will forever be remembered as Mrs Robinson seducing a nervous young Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate, has died aged 73.
Bancroft, who was married to comedian and director Mel Brooks, had been suffering from uterine cancer. She died last night at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital. Although she won an Oscar as Helen Keller's teacher in The Miracle Worker and two Tonys for her work on Broadway, it was her performance in the 1967 film which defined her career and earned her another Oscar nomination for best actress.See the full content of this document
