Gner Gave Labour Cash Amid Fight for Rail Franchise

GNER, the rail company that last year won its bid to retain Britain's most lucrative train franchise, has donated more than Pounds 28,000 to the Labour Party in the past 16 months.

The size of its donations almost doubled in the weeks before the recent key decision on whether it would be allowed to raise revenues and profits by running more services on its East Coast Main Line services out of King's Cross.
