LONDON motorists have reacted with fury as the average price of petrol at the pumps hit a record high of 96.85p a litre, with one garage charging Pounds 1.19 a litre.

The new record tops the former high of 96.81p a litre reached on 11 May this year. Tensions in the Middle East have pushed the price of crude oil to a record high, and the cost is being passed on to consumers.
