WOMEN who stop work to bring up children are to get better state pension rights, Work and Pensions Secretary John Hutton said today.
The new policy marks a watering-down of last year's Turner Commission report on state pensions. Mr Hutton said the Turner blueprint was flawed because it did not help today's over-45s. "We should therefore be looking at how we can develop a new contributory principle that gives women a fairer entitlement to the basic state pensions more quickly," he told the IPPR think tank.See the full content of this document
