BG GROUP accelerated 29p to 1263p as more than 12 million shares changed hands amid revived talk that a bid from Royal Dutch Shell may be on the way.
The shares have come up from a low of 712p already this year, fuelled by soaring oil prices and news of several big oil finds in the Tupi Sol Field and Santos Basin in Brazil. BG owns 25% of the Tupi Sol, which is said to have reserves running into billions of barrels of oil. This may be enough to attract the attention of another oil major looking to boost its reserves.See the full content of this document
