. FORMER world chess champion Bobby Fischer today said he was "very happy" to leave Japan for Iceland and avoid extradition to the United States.
Fischer, 62, pictured left at Tokyo airport today and in his prime, right, said he was "kidnapped" in Japan in July for travelling on an "invalid" passport. "Japan is a nice country, but you have a criminal leadership," Fischer said. Wanted in the US for breaching sanctions against Yugoslavia by playing a match there in 1992, he has now become an Icelandic citizen.See the full content of this document
