SHOULD I feel more excited than I do about Muttiah Muralitharan taking Shane Warne's Test wickets record? For me, Murali is a freak, his bent arm and double-jointed wrist giving him advantages that still smack of illegality, while Warne, though he may be a scally, has a bowling action that is poetry in motion.
And off the pitch he's a laugh, at least if you are not married to him. A friend still dines out on a story about entertaining the Aussies to drinks. Warne came in and greeted his host warmly: "G'day, mate. Where's the grog?"
