TWO companies were today facing huge fines over the death of a student hit by a train while working unsupervised as a temporary rail worker.

Michael Mungovan, 22, a talented athlete, was killed on one of the busiest tracks in Britain on the third day of his job which he had taken to help fund his university studies.
