FIFA's dislike of retrospective punishment has allowed Tottenham's Jermain Defoe to escape further penalties for allegedly biting West Ham's Javier Mascherano - as predicted by LiteSport yesterday.

Defoe insists he did not sink his teeth into the Argentinian's arm during the 1-0 win over his former club on Sunday, even though television pictures suggest otherwise and Mascherano is adamant he did.
