ENGLAND banked their highest total yet of this redhot Ashes summer but knew they had let Australia off the hook at Old Trafford today. At 433 for six with home ground hero Andrew Flintoff and Geraint Jones flaying even Shane Warne, 500 looked more probable than possible for them in the Third npower Test.
But then, in absolute keeping with the up and down nature of this series, Warne picked up three cheap wickets, Jason Gillespie finally had a bit of joy and England fell away, oh so tamely, to 444 all out. Good but no call for cigars all round.See the full content of this document
