Babies are not fed on demand but within a strict timetable. They are allowed to sleep for a maximum of eight hours during the day and Ford recommends blackout curtains in the nursery and a system of controlled crying at night where parents are allowed to go to the baby but not linger with it or lift it out of the cot. Ford claims babies will sleep through the night at 10 weeks on her routine.
