. BRITAIN is almost certain to be hit by an outbreak of potentially fatal bird flu and London would bear the brunt of the epidemic, a world authority on respiratory medicine warns today.

Professor Peter Openshaw of Imperial College said the virus was unstoppable and urged the Government to invest in a cure rather than spend millions on vaccines which may not work.
