SVEN-GORAN ERIKSSON was in crunch talks with his Football Association bosses today as pressure grew on the Swede to quit immediately after the World Cup.

Although Eriksson has a Pounds 4.8million-a-year contract lasting until 2008, the FA want to reach an agreement for him to stand down after the finals in Germany this summer, regardless of England's performance.
