TAKEOVER deals worth tens of millions of pounds were announced today as a series of entrepreneurs sold up to listed companies at the end of the tax year to avoid paying punitive new capital gains tax rates.

Probably the biggest tax break went to Geoff Moss and Barbara Catchpole who sold their Chester-based luxury travel company Elegant Resorts to holiday giant Thomas Cook.
