England 'Confused' in Paris, Says Axed Josh

Summary

JOSH LEWSEY today admitted that "misunderstandings and confusion" had contributed to England's disastrous 31-6 defeat by France, a result that has seen him axed for Saturday's clash with Ireland.

Lewsey is one of seven changes to the side and misses only his second England match since helping win the World Cup in Australia in 2003. In his Standard Sport column today, he reveals England had a heart-to-heart meeting on Monday and said: "The players and management had a long meeting and there was a lot of honesty. Two fundamental issues were put on the table, discussed and sorted out. I am certain that if we instigate the changes we talked about, we will win well on Saturday. It would be fair to say there were some misunderstandings and confusion, but that has hopefully been dealt with."
