Disney 'Poised to Make a Takeover Offer for Pixar'

MEDIA giant Walt Disney's board is understood to have given the go-ahead to chief executive Robert Iger, pictured, to make an offer to buy Pixar Animation Studios today. The deal will shake up the world of digital animation, a field Disney was slow to enter and has never really commanded in the way Pixar, maker of Toy Story and Finding Nemo, has. The proposed deal is also a triumph for Iger.

Talks between Pixar's Steve Jobs and former Disney chief Michael Eisner about extending the existing distribution deal faltered in Eisner's last year.
