CONVENTIONAL light bulbs will start disappearing from shops as early as January. The brightest 150- and 100-watt bulbs will no longer be produced and manufacture of the more widely used 75- and 60-watt versions will cease in early 2009. By 2010 all traditional filament light bulbs will be consigned to history. The timescale has been agreed by the lighting industry after talks with the Government, in order to give manufacturers time to increase production of energy-saving bulbs.
Electrical retailer Currys said it would not sell any more filament bulbs once current stocks sold out.See the full content of this document
