DRINKS giant Diageo, which owns Guinness and Johnnie Walker Scotch, was celebrating in style today after making moves to strengthen its lead position in the world market place.
Its shares were among the best blue-chip performers, climbing 181/ 2p to 806p, just 4p off a threeyear high. The group yesterday announced plans to buy Bushmills Irish whiskey from French rival Pernod Ricard for Pounds 200 million. It will also spend Pounds 320 million on New Zealand winemaker Montana - if Pernod's Pounds 7.5 billion takeover of Allied Domecq goes ahead.See the full content of this document
