MORNING OF 7 JULY THE OFFICIAL government account of the 7 July London bombings has concluded that they were an act of "indiscriminate terror" inspired by al Qaeda and Muslim resentment against Western foreign policy.

The 38-page report says there was little reason to suspect that the four bombers - Mohammad Sidique Khan, Shezhad Tanweer, Hasib Hussain and Jermaine Lindsay - were about to carry out their attacks and warns that the bombings highlight the "real difficulty" of identifying potential terrorists operating in Britain.

The Day the Bombers Went On Mission to Kill

The report also says there was no fifth bomber but that it remains unclear whether others were involved in " radicalising" or inciting the four bombers, or in helping them to plan or execute the attack. It also states that the account, despite being the official government version of what happened on 7 July, "is not yet the full picture" and that some material has been withheld to avoid prejudicing prosecutions, police investigations and intelligence sources.
