Summary
English National Ballet: The Sleeping Beauty After years of big- scale, in-the-round, neon-bright classics, English National Ballet shifts to a much subtler gear with this old-for-new production of The Sleeping Beauty. Created by Kenneth MacMillan for American Ballet Theatre in 1987, it looks sweet and delicate, and surprisingly fresh given that the costumes are Nicholas Georgiadis's spruced-up originals. Agnes Oaks and Thomas Edur are the opening- night Princess Aurora and Prince Desire, and they will surely dazzle as the fairytale couple. The new sets are by design whizz Peter Farmer.
