AS editor of the Annabel's Magazine, whose 2005 edition with Elizabeth Hurley on the cover cuddling Robin Birley's two whippets, is just going to print, I often get asked what is the average age of club members. Until very recently, nobody really knew. When Mark Birley invited 550 founding members in 1963 to pay five guineas a year to join, he certainly didn't ask them their date of birth.
For the past few months, however, as part of updating the club's records, a gorgeous girl called Phoebe has had the job of ringing up every member of Annabel's and asking them.
