PARLIAMENTARY traditionalists are anxiously awaiting the outcome of the Commons vote in a fortnight on the controversial modern sitting hours, first introduced in 2003.

They fear that should MPs continue to veto late-night sittings, one or more of the Commons eateries may have to close. Nicholas " Fatty" Soames is one of the MPs who will be less than thrilled at the thought of a reduction in the number of food outlets.
