MPs TODAY cast a cloud over the Government's headlong rush into the building of new nuclear power stations, warning that ministers have little idea of what the true clean-up bill is and how it is going to be paid.

As the future of Britain's current fleet of nuclear power stations run by British Energy continues to be the subject of fevered takeover speculation, MPs on the Business and Enterprise Select Committee said the regime for decommissioning the last generation of atomic reactors is in urgent need of reform.
