CRICKET coach Duncan Fletcher was finally granted British citizenship as the team he fashioned recaptured the Ashes from Australia, it was confirmed today.
England's Zimbabwe-born manager, 56, fought for 15 years for a passport. It is believed Home Secretary Charles Clarke intervened personally yesterday so the row would not sour the team's success. Mr Fletcher, who took over as coach in 1999, was turned down for citizenship because of the long spells he spends abroad - most often on tour with the England squad.See the full content of this document
