CAN anyone tell City Spy why Multiplex has a black cab driving around town with its name on the side and words to the effect of "this is not a licensed cab" in big letters on the back? Reports are legion of big City banks buying hackney carriages rather than limos, so top execs can hop in and out of bus lanes. The practice is illegal for all but licensed cabs, but chauffeurs and the bigwigs they escort think the risk is worth it. The Multiplex cab, though, is unlikely to fool even the dopiest traffic cop - and given the many cock-ups at Multiplex's Wembley Stadium, you have to admire the Aussie firm's top brass for daring to travel round in the thing.
