THE sentencing of fallen Russian oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky continues to drag on. It still has some way to go, though, to match the investigation that has yet to find the reason why a helicopter carrying Stephen Curtis, the man left in control when the Yukos founder was first jailed, plummeted to the ground near Bournemouth Airport and exploded, just 20 minutes into a flight in March last year, killing those on board. A spokesman for the Air Accident Investigations Branch refuses to say why it has taken so long or to guess when investigators may actually find a reason for the crash.

"Some investigations take three to four years," he adds helpfully.
