Summary
DIANA Jenkins, Bosnian wife of tax adviser Roger Jenkins, describes how snobbery drove her from London having left her feeling "unfulfilled ... almost dirty". But the City is full of dull bankers and their trophy wives feeling uncomfortable at glittering social functions. The only women I reckon would have bothered to notice the diamond rings on her fingers would have been the envious Wags of less well paid financiers.
As for meritocracy in the City, at my desk we have among others a former builder's mate, a Palestinian, an Israeli, a Cuban-American, a Ukrainian, three toffs and a boy from Kent who left school with two GCSEs.
