CYPRUS, the third largest island in the Mediterranean, seems a natural choice for British buyers. Its land registry system is based on the UK model, the infrastructure is constantly improving, English is widely spoken and Greek-Cypriots, new members of the EU since May 2004, demonstrate real warmth to British visitors. Couple this with Europe's longest summers (the average year-round temperature is 27 degrees Celsius) and a low crime rate, and it is easy to see why prices have risen an average of 10 to 15 per cent per annum in recent years.
Developers in the Republic of Cyprus, the southern part of the island, are building high-quality properties for the holiday-home market. Prices still compare favourably with Spain and Portugal.See the full content of this document
