Summary
TORCHWOOD -- CHILDREN OF EARTH 9pm, BBC1 "Boy!" says Captain Jack, "have I had a day." Indeed he has. He's been killed twice, for a start. Plus all the children in the world are behaving strangely. The Russell T Davies formula of alien powers opposed by the sheer force of human emotion, with politicians and the armed forces occupying a dubious hinterland somewhere between the two, is on sparkling form in this weeklong drama. Faithful Torchwood fans may regret the change from 13 episodes to five.
UNIVERSITY CHALLENGE 8pm, BBC2 After the title-stripping that disfigured the end of the last series, the BBC's general knowledge Leviathan resumes its progress. Tonight, Christ's College, Cambridge faces a team from Warwick University. Jeremy Paxman will continue to hone his professional exasperation on the luckless contestants who fluff the answers to his impossible questions. And viewers will marvel at the fact that, despite the vagaries of fashion, undergraduates appear to have the same dodgy clothes sense now as they did when the show began in 1962.See the full content of this document
