Chief Agreed Plan for Fiasco Superhospital

Summary


FINANCE chief John Bacon, who oversaw the NHS national IT programme until February, also played a key role in the doomed project to build a Pounds 900 million superhospital.

Mr Bacon approved the outline business case in 2000 for the Paddington hospital campus scheme, which trebled in costs and was seven years late before health chiefs pulled the plug - having wasted at least Pounds 15 million.
